Web English Learning Resources
Web English Learning ResourcesAs someone who has an interest in English, one of the challenges that I face is to learn how to use the Web English Learning Resources that is available to me. I do not have a university education and I am often working and doing school work in the English department at work. However, there are times when I will be in need of some help, and this is when I will turn to the Web to seek some tips and help. The Web is very much used these days by almost all of us, but you may not know this fact. I want to tell you about the Web as a tool that can help you in the area of getting knowledge and information about things that interest you. There are many websites that offer free English Learning Materials online, so I will recommend that you visit those sites first and see what you can find out for yourself. Some of these sites may seem interesting to you, and they may actually offer more information than you thought that you would be able to get. Other sites that you may not have heard of, or that may be too obscure, can give you some great learning material. In fact, there are many websites that offer free information on the Web for English learners. You can visit the Internet for English Lessons and then choose a site that offers you some free information. If you can find an English site that offers you a grammar or vocabulary dictionary and all of the definitions that you can find for a certain word, this can greatly help you in the beginning stages of your study. It is true that the basic study methods and tools you learn from your teacher or a textbook will never be enough to help you understand how to write effectively and efficiently. In many cases, it may be even worse than this, because you might even be required to use the English language on a daily basis in order to earn a living. However, if you can learn to use your hands to write correctly and write ina clear and simple manner, then you will also be able to learn good grammar an d correct spelling. This is something that you can develop over time, but it can take a lot of time. However, if you make it a point to learn good English grammar, you will be very much rewarded in the long run. Many times, even people who do not have any formal training in the English language will find that they can find a great deal of information on the Web about writing and using the English language that can be used for free. This will definitely improve your knowledge of the English language, and you will have a better understanding of what you need to know.

The difference between group classes and private classes is that youâll get more time with your therapist in a private class and your yoga teacher will choose which exercises will work best with your condition.Yoga therapy is a long-term solution that will help the patient or student learn how to do it autonomously. By regularly working yourself, you can also take your recovery into your own hands. If you decide to provide yoga therapy sessions on Superprof, you can add the details of your yoga therapy qualification on your profile to attract more tutees. There are a few ways to become a yoga therapy.Firstly, Green Yoga provides training for yoga therapy. This training not only involves courses on yoga therapy but also teaches you how to teach yoga therapy lessons. This course includes 3 different 100-hour modules. This means youâll have done 300 hours by the time youâre finished. Each of these three modules allows you to specialise in a particular field of yoga therapy. At the end of these 300 hours, the Green Yoga Institute will provide you with your yoga therapy specialisation diploma. If you prefer, there are online courses available from other yoga therapy organisations. This is a way to get yoga therapy training from the comfort of your own home and learn at your own pace. Most courses take around 2 years to complete and will include aspects such as micronutrition, yoga, and therapeutic techniques. Before you start your yoga training, have a look around online for recognised training centres. You donât want a qualification that isnât worth the paper that itâs printed on.With so many different types of yoga including Ayurveda Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Yoga Nidra, etc. It can be difficult to work out which kind of yoga practice is right for you. Fortunately, if you want to find out more, consider reading our other articles on the topic or getting yoga therapy sessions from one of the private tutors teaching yoga and meditation on Superprof. There are a lot of different types of yoga available and three main types of yoga tutorial available on Superprof: face-to-face, online, and group. Each type of tutorial comes with a set of pros and cons and what's right for one person may not be right for another. You need to think carefully about choosing the right tutor and the right type of private tutorial.Face-to-face tutorials are between you and your tutor; there's nobody else there. This is great if you require highly-tailored yoga therapy, for example. However, as a bespoke and tailored service, these tutorials tend to be the most costly per hour. With your tutor dedicating every minute of the session to you, they're also the most cost-effective type of tutorial.Online tutorials, while usually better for academic subjects, can be quite useful if you're on a budget. Since the tutor doesn't have to travel and can also schedule more sessions per week, they have the potential to earn more and spend less and can c harge a more competitive rate for their tutorials. If you prefer a hands-on approach, these tutorials won't be for you, but if you have a decent webcam, microphone, and internet connection, you can get quality and tailored tutorials without having to break the bank. Finally, group tutorials are similar to traditional yoga therapy sessions and you won't be the only person there. With multiple attendees footing the bill, these tend to be cheaper per person per hour than the other types of tutorial but it does mean that the lessons won't be tailored for you. Since most yoga therapy is geared towards a specific condition or ailment, most of you there will have the same needs and goals. This means you can all benefit from affordable private tutoring and yoga therapy and maybe even make some new friends.

Indias Top 5 Best Places To Live The Best Places To Live In India ChaptersHyderabad, the City of NizamsPune, the Oxford of The EastChandigarh, The City BeautifulNavi Mumbai, A Planned CityThane, The Rising SuburbAbout 17.5% of the world's population call India home. With 1.33 billion inhabitants, India is only second to China on the list ranking the most populous countries on Earth.Knowing that the Indian government only conducts a census every ten years and that the next one will be published in 2021, you will quickly do the maths and realise that the most recent official data on India's population date back to 2011.At the time, the Indian Republic numbered 27 cities and 53 urban agglomerations with 1 million inhabitants or more. Three Indian metropolia also harboured more than 10 million souls, Mumbai (or Bombay) has 20.7 million, Kolkata (or Calcutta) has 14.1 million and New Delhi (or Delhi) has 26.4 million.India is renowned for his world-class traffic jams where one can stay stuck hours on end. (by joiseyshowaa)Before moving to India, maybe you should learn to speak Hindi.Because of Indian's population growth, which added more than 200 million people to the census between 2001 and 2011, it is expected that India will be the very first nation to count 1.5 billion as citizens and it is expected that it will surpass China's number by 2024.Given the exponential growth of India's population, it is not a surprise that the country had to face many challenges relating to urbanism, pollution and sanitation.Mumbai is the most densely populated urban area in the world with 21,000 inhabitants for every square kilometre had to overcome many of such challenges and is still working on improving the living conditions of its citizens. For example, if one were to put all the cars, taxis and rickshaws officially registered in the city of Mumbai lined up, the entire 1,900km of the city's road would be full!Mumbai also struggles with its water supply, and the city's officials estimated that they are losing 700 million litres of water thro ugh theft and leakage, EVERY DAY!These challenges mean that the Indian government has had a lot to do to provides its citizens with decent living conditions. However, a lot of improvements have been done in recent years, progresses that are measured every year by the Mercer's Quality of Living Ranking and the Indian Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).So which India cities would offer you the best living conditions? Charminar has been a historical place with mosque on the top floor for over 400 years and also famous for its surrounding markets.Technically Hyderabad is the capital of two states, at least until 2025. Originally the capital of Andhra Pradesh, in the South East of India, the city was included in the newly formed state of Telangana in 2014 but would remain the de jure capital of Andhra Pradesh for a period of 10 years. No one said Indian political and geographical subtilities were easy.Hyderabad was founded in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah and remained under the rule of his dynasty until the Moghul Empire took over. Later on, the Mughal viceroy Asif Jah I went his own way and coronated himself Nizam of Hyderabad. His family continued to rule the region for the next century and a half until the Independence in 1948 when Nizam VII only reluctantly surrendered his powers after the newly created Indian Union invaded the princely state and defeated the Nizam's forces.Fast forward 70 years and Hyderabad is now a modern city, which has been ranked as the best Indian city to live in for four years in a row. What is so good about it?Affordable housing and low cost of livingCompared to any British city, real-estate in India is relatively affordable, but the city of Hyderabad, which is home to no less than 7.7 million people, boasts some of the most affordable housing of the country.Compared to Mumbai, the most expensive city in the country, a 100m2 flat in Hyderabad city centre would cost around 6.1 million rupees or about £70,000 (or 61 lakh rupees, Indian usually count significant numbers in lakh, one lakh being 100,000 rupees). Rents in Hyderabad are thus roughly 85% cheaper than Mumbai.Cost of living is also quoted to be one of the reasons the city as ranked so high amongst Indian towns. Overall the purchasing power of Hyderabadis is about 16% higher than their Mumbaites peers. The relatively clement climate and the low crime rate were also factors that gained the city its top position.Expats are also very likely to find employment in the city of Hyderabad as big American companies the like of Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Google, IBM, Yahoo!, Oracle Corporation, Dell, Facebook and CISCO, all have firms there. No wonder IT pros call the city Cyberabad. The city is also home to major Indian pharma companies and produces one-third of all the drugs sold in the country while manufacturing 16% of all of the country's biotechnology products. If you get lost or need to bargain, you will have to learn some Hindi at least.Pune, the Oxford of The EastThe monsoon does not spare the city of Pune during the rainy season. Make sure to take cover when the clouds burst. (by mukerjichinmoy)Located in the Maharashtra state for which the city serves as capital, Pune has been estimated to be at least 1000 years old. During the 16th century and under the Maratha Empire, Pune became the residence home of the Empire's prime minister and thus began the transformation from a humble citadel to a flamboyant political and cultural centre.Pune has reached the top of the list for the most comfortable city to live in India. Despite its relatively cleaner air, the excellent accessibility to water and an affordable housing market, Punekars still enjoy a higher purchasing power mainly because the cost of living has not risen so much in the past years while the average salary did, the workers of Pune earn about 30% more than their Hyderabad fellows. The numerous top-notch universities dotted all over the cities have earned the city of Pune the nickname of Oxford of the East. Almost half of all international students in India are studying in Pune, and the city is also the principal teaching centre for Japanese learning in the country. Germany and France are also represented through the Goethe Institute and the Alliance Francaise. The city is particularly welcoming for engineering expats as many well-known car manufacturers have set up shop in Pune over the last 50 years, including Mercedes Benz, General Motors, Land Rover, Jaguar, Renault, Volkswagen, and Fiat. All in all, Pune is a one of the most delightful city to live in India with all the amenities you would expect from a city this size but with a much lesser crazy busy vibe than Mumbai or Delhi.Find and enrol for Hindi language course now. (by Bruno vanbesien)Compared to Pune or Hyderabad, Chandighar is a relatively small city. Home to just north of 1 million people, the city serves as the capital of two of the state of the Indian Republic, Haryana and Punjab and rather than being part of either, it is directly administered by the central government of India.Despite its huge political importance, Chandighar was only built during the 1960's under the planning of Swiss-French urbanist and architect Le Corbusier. Because the work started from almost nothing, the city designer was able to use a grid layout dividing the city into different sectors. When walking or driving through the streets of Chandigarh, you could almost feel like you are in an American city.Chandighar has been described as one of the cleanest cities in I ndia, and according to LG Electronics ranking of the happiest cities in the world, the people of Chandigarh are the happiest in India.Because of its broad and well-maintained roads, Chandigarh has the highest number of vehicles per capita in India, but it also boasts one of the best public transport city in the country. On the whole, Chandigarh is a very agreeable city to live, offering one of the highest income per capita of the country, the city is also set to start the works on its metro in 2019.Learn basic Hindi phrases and get on the good side of the locals.Check for Hindi clases Glasgow. The Open Hand sculpture are all over Chandigarh and are the work of the city's architect Le Corbusier. In the 1960's, overpopulation in the metropolitan area of Mumbai was getting worse by the year and the need to unclog the city became one of the local's gov ernment top priorities thus was born the City and Industrial Development Corporation or CIDCO.The government controlled organisation started to plan and build the new city over massive swaths of land that the state of Maharashtra had purchased. It was decided that the city would be divided into nodes with industries and businesses equally spread over the city to ease transportation and reduce commute time.Check here for Hindi lessons London now.The crown of Navi Mumbai has become the symbol of the city. (by Thomas Alex)The city today is home to just over 1 million people but has become a much cleaner and easy to live city than Mumbai ever was. The extensive public transport infrastructure as well as very good connections to the nearby megalopolis make traffic in and around the city much easier and thus results in a better quality of air.Multinational corporations also decided to settle in Navi Mumbai, offering their employees much better conditions of living that they would have had in Mumbai. Siemens, McDonald's, Bureau Veritas, Bizerba, Reliance and Accenture all have offices in Navi Mumbai.Even though both Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are so close with each other, Navi Mumbaikars benefits from a much higher power of purchases as prices in their city are much lower than in the economic capital of the country.Rents are about 70% lower than in Mumbai while Navi Mumbai average salary is 5% higher. At the end of the day, Navi Mumbai is a lovely little city with clean, wide sidewalks used by nearly 10% of the population to commute from and to work. A lot of greens spaces, clean streets and overall chilled vibe make Navi Mumbai a great place to live.Thane, The Rising SuburbThane is famous for its many lakes dotted all over the city. The Masunda Lake which the locals call 'Talao Pali', where Talao means 'Lake' in Hindi, is one of the oldest and biggest lakes of Thane city. The city of Thane, just North of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, has been listed as one of the most pr omising up and coming cities in India. As one of the best residential areas in the country, Thane naturally boasts vast green spaces and no less than 30 lakes. Nested on the banks of the Vasai Creek, the city has the lowest air, water and noise pollution of the whole state of Maharashtra. With projects including a monorail corridor and a lot of new developments in the pipeline, real-estate prices are set to rise, but as the city has been ranked 4th for business and employment generation, it makes no doubt that Thane will continue to grow. Many more...With India being such a vast country, this list is very restrictive. Other great cities and town to live in India would include tech-savvy Bangalore, vibrant Chennai or the holy Varanasi. With the rise of nomadic workers, the norms of livability hold no more, and one could easily move to one of the cities in the state of Goa or Kerala and enjoy the beaches like a tourist while working remotely from a computer. And if you enjoy smaller cities and towns still offering high livability with low crime rates and substantial job growth, check out Gangtok in Sikkim, Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Bengaluru in Karnataka or Jaipur in Rajasthan.Of course, living in one Indian city shouldn't stop you to visit the rest of the country as so many tourists do and some must-see monuments should be on your weekend to-do list. Visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, the forts of Shimla, the Jagdish Hindu Temple of Udaipur or the white sands beach of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Indian sub-continent is full of treasures!

A Student Review of University of Notre Dame
A Student Review of University of Notre Dame The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Kenny is a St. Louis tutor specializing in Algebra tutoring, Calculus tutoring, History tutoring, and a number of other areas. He is currently a junior at University of Notre Dame majoring in Economics and Math. See what he had to share about University of Notre Dame: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Kenny: The University of Notre Dame campus is very beautiful. It is about an hour east of Chicago, and it is quite safe. The schools campus police swiftly handle any criminal incidents. Because the alumni and administration want to maintain a safe and friendly environment, the campus is only accessible via one main road. Buses, however, are available to take students to and from Midway and OHare Airports in Chicago. There is also an Amtrak station close by, as well as a regional airport approximately 10 minutes from campus. Many students own bikes, and they use them during the fall and spring months to more quickly access areas of campus that are far from their dorms. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Kenny:Most professors hold office hours at last three times per week, and they are often available even when they do not have posted office hours. The same is true of teaching assistants. The professors are very personable, and they are quick to respond to any difficulties you may have. The academic advisers are intelligent, engaged, and quick to respond to student needs. The First Year of Studies advisers are particularly helpful in leading each freshman to the best course of study for them. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Kenny:University of Notre Dame dorm life is very active. Students are interested in their hallmates, and you are likely to make many friends wherever you live. In other words, because the school has no fraternities, dorm communities often become tight-knit families. Rectors (headmasters) and resident assistants are, without fail, great leaders who make a vigorous effort to be involved (but not overly so) with the on-campus life of each dorm resident. The University of Notre Dame has several dining options, and its dining halls are among the best in the nation. One of them even looks like Hogwarts. The most incredible aspect of the University of Notre Dame, however, is the schools unique ability to unite strong athletics and academics with an inspired Catholic faith. No other school can offer this combination the way that University of Notre Dame does. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Kenny:The Mendoza College of Business has been ranked #1 for undergraduate study in the country. However, all schools (and all departments within the schools) are well represented and supported by University of Notre Dame administrators, alumni, and faculty. I studied Economics and Mathematics because I have always had a very analytical mind, and I love both Abstract and Applied Math. My professors and classmates inspired me to pursue a graduate degree in Economics. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Kenny:Due to its reputation as a strong Catholic institution, Greek life is literally nonexistent at University of Notre Dame. Nonetheless, and perhaps due to this unique attribute, meeting other freshmen and upperclassmen who share similar interests, goals, and values is very easy (and enjoyable). I can confidently recall having made 10 close friends within my first two weeks of college. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Kenny:The Career Center, Student Activities Office, and University Health Services are all very helpful. The University of Notre Dame hosts over 300 student-led organizations, and the Mental Health Center is a great resource for students who find themselves struggling to adjust to college life. The Career Center ensures that students have the opportunity to accept internships and jobs from such companies as Pfizer, JPMorgan, John Deere, and the American Enterprise Institute. However, the Career Center also ensures that students who wish to pursue advanced degrees have all the necessary resources to do so. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Kenny:The University of Notre Dames study areas are many and varied. Students can choose to study in one of their dorms lounges, the bookstore, the LaFortune Student Center, the Hesburgh Library (which boasts 3.39 million volumes and 14 stories), or one of the several other libraries around campus. Each of these study spaces offers something different some are busy, some are very quiet, some are best for group projects, and others are best for an intense final review before that Econometrics exam you almost forgot to study for. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Kenny:The campus of the University of Notre Dame offers everything that many students desire. As a result, some students may never feel a need to leave. However, when they do want to relieve stress, South Bend has several friendly bars, a fun nightclub, a minor league baseball team, and many opportunities for service. While some students spend their evenings in prayer and reflection with a few of their closest friends, others attend events off-campus. The University Park Mall and the Eddy Street Commons host several retail outlets, local restaurants, and a few evening happy hours close to campus. For many, the 57 chapels or Grand Basilica offer a refuge from the busy week of studying and extracurricular activity that almost all University of Notre Dame students undertake. The school can be as exciting or as conservative as you desire. In short, the University of Notre Dame community is incredibly well rounded and offers much for everyone. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Kenny:University of Notre Dames student body (including graduate students) is approximately 12,000 people. Around 8,000 of these students are undergraduates, a size that allows many students to know each other well without imposing on one anothers personal space. I was very pleased with my typical class sizes. I often shared the class with enough students to form study groups, but I also developed a strong personal relationship with many of my professors. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Kenny:My favorite class as a student at University of Notre Dame was Econometrics. Though many students have claimed this to be the most difficult course in the Economics major, I emerged from the class more determined to attend graduate school than ever before. My professor, the department chair, was a very difficult instructor. He was also one of the brightest, most inspiring men I have ever had the opportunity to know. Check out Kennys tutoring profile. What To Know About The ACT
What To Know About The ACT The ACT, (originally an acronym for American College Testing) is a standardized exam that measures what you have learned in your high school courses, and serves as an alternative to the SAT examination for college admissions. All four-year colleges and universities accept ACT results. The ACT covers four subject areas; English, Mathematics,Reading, and Science, along with an optional Writing section. The ACT is not an IQ or aptitude exam; rather, the material directly relates to what you have learned in your high school courses. In other words, the more you challenge yourself in the classroom, the more prepared you will be. The assessment consists of 215 multiple-choice questions and takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete, including a brief break, (or requires just over four hours if you are also taking the Writing Test). The English section consists of 75 questions that measure written English and rhetorical skills, such as sentence structure, punctuation and grammar usage, as well as writing strategies, organization, and style. Students receive 45 minutes to complete the English category. Spelling skills, vocabulary, and rote grammar rules are not tested. Students receive an hour to complete the mathematics section, which has 60 questions from areas such as pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. You are permitted to use a calculator on this portion of the exam, but make sure that it is ACT-approved! For example, all TI-89 or TI-92 calculators are allowed, but any calculators with a QWERTY keyboard are prohibited. [RELATED:What is an Average ACT Score?] The reading category is designed to gauge reading comprehension. Questions on passages measure your understanding of what a passage is directly stating, as well as your grasp of statements with implied meanings. Reading selections include content from four areas: social studies, natural sciences, prose fiction, and humanities. Students receive 35 minutes to complete this section. The science portion of the ACT consists of 40 questions over a 35-minute period. Scientific information is presented through various formats such as data representation, research summaries, and conflicting viewpoints. Corresponding multiple-choice questions require students to interpret graphs, tables, descriptions of experiments, and related hypotheses or inconsistent views. Content area includes biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth/space sciences. This category emphasizes scientific reasoning skills over recall of scientific facts, reading comprehension, and mathematical ability. Calculators are not permitted during the science portion of the exam. Though the ACT Writing Test is an optional supplement to the exam, more and more colleges are recommending or requiring applicants take it. The writing test gives a single prompt and 30 minutes in which to complete it. You are asked to state your position on an issue, and you may adopt one or the other of the stances described in the prompt (your score will not be affected by your viewpoint). The Writing Test assesses your writing skills emphasized in your high school English classes and in entry-level college composition classes. In order to do well on the ACT, careful preparation is crucial. Infographic 11 Tips for Improving Your Conversational Spanish Suzy S. Whether youre learning Spanish for business or just for fun, your end goal is most likely to communicate with others not just stare at a textbook! And to do this, youll need to practice listening and talking with real people. Here, Spanish tutor Joan B. shares some tips, and where to find conversational Spanish lessons Ready to start speaking in Spanish with confidence? The following tips include creative ways to practice your Spanish in social settings and in your community, with native and non-native speakers. If youve been studying Spanish but feel your conversational skills are lagging behind your understanding of grammar or your reading abilities, use these tips to make rapid, consistent progress while simultaneously having fun! Note: These tips work for any language youre learning. From Spanish to Japanese to French, conversation practice is key. 11 Tips for Improving Your Conversational Spanish 1. Attend social events geared toward Spanish speakers. This could be a cultural event, a local gallery opening of Latin American art, or a community meeting regarding an issue affecting the local Spanish-speaking community. 2. Listen to material that is casual and conversation-based. Its great to listen to newscasts, but if youd like to converse in Spanish, you can improve your comprehension of spoken Spanish by listening to podcasts and other recordings that reflect common usage of Spanish, rather than formal spoken Spanish. (Our Spanish podcast picks here!) 3. Combine your passions. It can be hard to find time to improve your language skills when youre balancing work or school, friends, and other hobbies. So, why not combine them? If you like traveling, consider choosing a Spanish-speaking country, where you can practice your conversational skills and gain new ones. You could also consider doing volunteer or paid work in your field that would expose you to Spanish speakers. If you enjoy dining out, go out with a few friends who speak your target language and try to go the entire meal speaking in Spanish! 4. Find a language exchange partner and work with a tutor. Language exchanges are an excellent way to practice conversation, make a new friend, and learn all about the cultural aspects of speaking Spanish. This is a unique way to challenge your conversational skills, as language exchange partners are usually fluent, native speakers. Keep in mind, though, if youre making grammatical mistakes, your partner may not provide corrections. Because of this, its smart to balance your study by also working with a private Spanish tutor. Dont let the word tutor scare you off the great thing about private lessons is that you can set your own specific goals! If youd prefer to spend the majority of the time practicing conversations, just let your tutor know! Many teachers specialize in conversational Spanish lessons. 5. Chat with a friend who is also learning the same language. If youre more comfortable with someone familiar, try chatting with a friend who is also learning the same language! Even better, take a class together. Even if you dont live in the same city, online group classes are a great way to learn together and get structured conversation practice with others. 6. Use online forums and communities to your advantage. The internet is full of helpful resources for language learners! The TakeLessons Blog, for example, features articles and guides from professional language tutors like myself. You can also check out forums, like WordReference.com. If you cant find the answer to your question, you can post it and get answers from native speakers and other in-the-know Spanish speakers. 7. Set specific goals or niches youd like to focus on. Is there a certain topic that you would like to excel in conversationally? Identify what interest you, then look for resources (or ask your tutor) to help you build a specific set of vocabulary. For example, if you like to discuss politics, you could read the newspaper in Spanish, follow Spanish and Latin American politicians on Twitter, or join a community political activist group where Spanish speakers are active. Soon youll find yourself conversing easily on a variety of topics in your niche interest! 8. Supplement real-time conversations with language-learning apps. Language-learning apps are great to use on your own and during your downtime. Some apps focus on pronunciation and conversational skills. Others include fun games that can drill vocabulary and grammar rules that youve worked on with your tutor. Here are some of our favorite apps for supplementing your conversational Spanish lessons: Duolingo Busuu Mosalingua Memrise 9. Watch films and telenovelas. Watch classic films or catch up on your latest telenovela to hear how Spanish sounds, what vocabulary is used, and how people express themselves. Try watching with subtitles to add another layer of reinforcement and understanding! 10. Get out in the community. Volunteer to help Spanish speakers learn English, and youll learn about Spanish sentence structure and expressions by observing the ways in which they try to express themselves in English. Your knowledge of Spanish will also help when they are searching for an expression in English, but havent learned it yet. This is just one of many ways to offer your skills as a volunteer and simultaneously improve your conversational skills. There are many opportunities for volunteering in the fields of law, social justice, nutrition, and more! 11. Host an exchange student or rent a room to a student. If you have some extra room in your apartment or house, why not host an exchange student or rent a room to a Spanish-speaking student? In addition to making some extra money, youll get an enriching experience as you interact with your guest, learn various social customs, and engage in both Spanish and English. Your guest will appreciate your effort to learn his or her language, and you could also request that your guest does a weekly conversation hour with you in Spanish. Its a win-win!
